The Lanark Animal Welfare Society says people do not have to adopt an animal to make a difference.
New Executive Director Bill Dickson says volunteers, fosters, drivers, donors and local businesses all have a role to play as LAWS works to care for animals across the region.
He says volunteers help inside the shelter, while foster homes create space for more animals coming into LAWS care.
Dickson says volunteer drivers are also important, especially when animals need to get to and from vet appointments.
He says people can also donate food, office supplies, paper towels, printer ink, printer paper and other everyday items. Some donations may qualify for an in-kind tax receipt.
Dickson says financial support also matters, but every contribution helps.
Dickson says LAWS also hopes to build more support from businesses as costs continue to rise.
