People in Prescott, Kemptville and Morrisburg will come together Saturday for a local walk aimed at raising awareness about human trafficking and supporting survivors.
Beacon Bags, a local non-profit organization that supports survivors of human trafficking, is hosting its annual Walk for Freedom on Oct. 3.
The event begins at 9:30 a.m., with walks taking place in all three communities.
Founder Denise March says the event is about more than raising money. She says it is also a way to show survivors that they are not alone.
The walks will be held at the Giant Tiger parking lot in Prescott, Your Independent Grocer in Kemptville and Motion Church in Morrisburg.
March says it is important for people to understand human trafficking and its impact on small communities.
The cost to participate is $20, with proceeds going toward Beacon Bags and its work supporting survivors.
Anyone interested in taking part can contact Beacon Bags by email at d.march@beaconbags.ca or by text at 613-213-2859.
