The third annual Paul Gill Memorial Fishing Derby returns to Hardy Park on Saturday, July 25, bringing anglers and families together to celebrate the life of one of Brockville’s most beloved community members.
Paul Gill was known for his love of fishing, coaching and giving back to others.
Two of Paul’s sons, Ryan and Rob Gill, said the derby is the perfect way to honour their father’s memory.
They also spoke about a special prize that will be presented during the awards ceremony.
They said the event is about more than catching fish, encouraging families to unplug, make memories and strengthen community connections.
Anglers will launch onto the St. Lawrence River at 6 a.m. before returning for weigh-ins around 2 p.m.
The event will also feature a free family festival at Hardy Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with games, live music, food, fishing activities and prizes.
Proceeds support local youth across Leeds and Grenville through Their Opportunity programs.
