A.J. Benoit, a local performer and former military instructor, is hoping city council approves his proposal to take on the historic role.
Benoit says his military, theatrical and local history experience, as well as his booming voice, would make him a good fit.
He adds that he already has a vintage bell, scroll and parts of his traditional costume ready.
