Although visits were down in June, the Brockville and Area Food Bank continues to encourage donations to help keep its shelves stocked for local residents
The Brockville and Area Food Bank is celebrating a decline in visits during June, a positive change after months of steadily increasing demand for its services.
With more, here’s Manager Amanda Petch.
The food bank typically serves between 50 and 80 people each day. Petch said the lower number of visits in June amounted to saving an entire day of appointments, something she described as significant for the organization.
Petch said staff believe the decline is linked to the recent federal Grocery Rebate distributed last month.
She said similar support programs could help reduce the need for food bank visits over time.
