Henderson has been with the Brockville Yacht Club Sailing School for eight years
Sail Canada has named Brockville's own Lucas Henderson the 2024 Sail Instructor of the Year.
Henderson said he got the big news during an annual fundraiser with dinner served by the young sailors and coaches to the Brockville Yacht Club members this summer.
Now at age 22, Henderson said he started coaching sailing at the Yacht Club as a 15-year-old.
He added that the community, the people he gets to work with, and the beautiful 1000 Islands were the reasons why he got into coaching.
Henderson also said it was a tremendous summer for the sailing school.
The Brockville Yacht Club Sailing School welcomes donations to support its growing inclusive summer program. With sailors from across Canada, including Calgary and the GTA, plus six Ukrainian youth through Canadian Aid for Chernobyl, the program offers accessible sailing to all.
