Brockville residents can try their hand at axe throwing while helping fight local poverty this Saturday.

The second annual Axing Poverty event runs from noon to 8 p.m. on Oct. 17 at Capitol Axe Throwing Brockville.

For $20 plus tax, participants get an hour of axe throwing, with 50 per cent of the proceeds supporting programs and services provided by United Way Leeds and Grenville.

Organizer Melissa Hindman says a special event will take place from noon to 1 p.m.

Hindman says she’s excited to see the next generation of leaders empowered through the initiative.

She also explains how people can register for the event.

Organizers encourage residents to bring friends, family or co-workers, test their aim and help make a difference locally.
