A longtime Brockville Braves broadcaster is being recognized after another strong season behind the mic.

Harper Cotie has been named the 2025-26 Chris Messina Broadcasting Award winner by the Central Canada Hockey League.

Cotie, a familiar voice to local hockey fans, has followed the sport for most of his life and has spent years covering Braves games.

He said the recognition feels good.

The award was created in memory of Chris Messina, the league’s first director of broadcasting, who died in 2017 at age 32. It is presented each year to a broadcaster who reflects his love of the game and the league.

Cotie said he loves hockey and all the people involved.

The award is set to be presented Friday in Rockland ahead of game one of the Bogart Cup Final.
