What's Good in Brockville? Local camp gives girls a closer look at life as firefighters

Applications for this year's camp closed May 22

The annual Belles and Ladders Girls Firefighters Camp in Brockville returns July 22-24, offering teens a chance to explore firefighting skills and teamwork.

The free three-day program is organized by the Brockville Fire Department.

Fire Chief Melanie Jones outlined some of the activities participants will take part in.

She said participants will also experience rappelling, putting out live fires, search and rescue, cutting apart vehicles and practising forcible entry, along with much more.

Jones explained the purpose of the camp.

She said support from firefighters and the wider community is key to making the program possible.

The camp has been successful in previous years, and organizers hope for another successful edition.

Applications for this year's camp closed May 22.
