What's Good in Brockville? Local residents can lace up to help end diabetes this weekend

Those interested can join the event in person or virtually

A Brockville event this weekend is giving families a chance to get active, have some fun and support people living with diabetes.

“Lace Up to End Diabetes” will take place at the Thousand Islands Secondary School track on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The 5-kilometre run aims to raise funds and awareness for people living with diabetes.

The event also promotes healthy living and physical activity while fostering community support.

Organizer Ashley Airhart-Cross spoke about her family’s personal experience with diabetes.

Airhart-Cross said there will also be activities for families.

She noted this year’s goal.

Funds raised will help support new technology for diabetes, as well as research, innovation and more.

Those interested can join the event in person or virtually.
