What's Good in Brockville? Paramedic Services Week shines light on life-saving work of local first responders

A reminder of the work paramedics and other first responders do every day

As Paramedic Services Week continues, a local story is highlighting the important role first responders play in the community every day.

More than two years ago, My Broadcasting Corporation employee and Prescott native David Kirkwood experienced a life-threatening emergency that required a quick response from local paramedics Amber Horsefield and Robin Cubitt.

Their actions helped save his life and, after a lengthy recovery, Kirkwood is alive and well today.

A couple of weeks ago, Kirkwood had the chance to reconnect with the paramedics who responded that day and thank them in person.

We asked Horsefield and Cubitt what they thought of Kirkwood’s recovery.

They were also asked what it is like to meet someone they helped save after so much time has passed.

The reunion serves as a reminder of the work paramedics and other first responders do every day, often without recognition, and shows the lasting impact quick action and emergency care can have on someone’s life years later.
