Organizers say the more money raised, the more participants will be encouraged to brave the cold and take the plunge
Residents in Brockville are being invited to take an icy dip this weekend in support of local athletes.
The Brockville Police “Freezin’ for a Reason” Polar Plunge takes place Saturday, March 7, at Centeen Park. Registration opens at 10 a.m., with participants hitting the water at 10:30 a.m.
It costs 10 dollars to take the plunge, and donations are also being accepted in support of Special Olympics Brockville.
Constable Allie DeDekker says the annual event is a fun and meaningful way for the community to get involved while supporting a great cause.
DeDekker says strong community support helps keep participants motivated.
She adds that anyone taking part can wear whatever clothing they feel comfortable plunging in.
DeDekker says every donation helps, noting contributions of any size are greatly appreciated.
The annual event continues to highlight the strong community spirit in Brockville while raising important funds for local Special Olympics athletes.
Organizers say the more money raised, the more participants will be encouraged to brave the cold and take the plunge.
