The Brockville Legion plans to celebrate the centennial in 2027
The Royal Canadian Legion is marking a major milestone in 2026 as the organization celebrates its 100th anniversary of service to Veterans and communities across Canada.
Founded in 1925 at the Unity Conference, the Legion was created to support Veterans, advocate for their rights and ensure Remembrance continues.
On July 17, 1926, the Legion was officially incorporated through a special Act of Parliament, a date now recognized as its anniversary.
Don Corneil from the Brockville Legion said Legions across the country are promoting a new offer this year.
He talked about some of the benefits of becoming a Legion member.
Weekly newsletters, mental health resources, networking and other services are available to members.
Corneil said the Brockville Legion has a vast history and noted an important part of its past.
He said the Legion’s track team has brought pride to Brockville for many years.
The Royal Canadian Legion is also marking the milestone with limited-edition commemorative coins and a national sweepstakes offering members a chance to win a Ford F-150.
