What's Good in Brockville? The opportunity for girls to be molded into firefighters

In Canada, only 4-5% of females have firefighting as a career

Today is the last day for the Brockville Fire Department's 2nd Annual Belles & Ladders.

A fire fighting camp for girls 15-18 to give them an introduction into a field that is male dominated. Here's Brockville Fire Chief, Melanie Jones.

In Canada, only 4-5% of firefighters are female, but there is hope with 22 girls participating in the camp this year. An up tick from the 16 that took part last year.

15-year-old Ella from Kanata says she's enjoyed it.

The girls will end off by competing in a relay this afternoon from 2:30 to 3:15 at Fire Station 2 on Laurier Blvd. Spectators are welcome.
