A new tropical-themed festival is bringing island vibes to Brockville this summer.
Tiki Time will take place at St. Lawrence Park on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., offering a full day of free family-friendly entertainment.
Organizer Nathalie Lavergne said she feels St. Lawrence Park isn't used enough.
Lavergne said the idea came together after plans for a larger event in Ottawa fell through, leading her to organize the celebration in Brockville instead.
She added there is still room for vendors.
There will also be a projector screening tiki-themed movies throughout the event.
She said she is still awaiting a permit from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) to serve alcohol during the event.
According to Lavergne, Captain Andy of 1000 Islands Seaway Cruises has also offered tiki boat rides if enough people can fill the boat.
Lavergne encouraged everyone to wear their best tiki, vintage or luau attire, let loose and have fun.
Admission is completely free.
