Developers get a voice
Brockville is giving developers a chance to voice their opinions on proposed changes to development charges.
At a March 4 Public Planning and Development Committee meeting, Mayor Matt Wren pushed for a meeting where developers could provide feedback on the Development Charge Background Study. The motion passed unanimously at the latest Council meeting.
Development charges help municipalities cover infrastructure costs linked to growth. Brockville’s current bylaw, originally set to expire in January 2025, was extended until a new study could be completed. The study, prepared by Watson and Associates Economists Limited, will guide future fees.
City officials say input from developers is key to ensuring fair and balanced charges. Meeting details will be announced soon.
