Events runs Friday to Sunday at Blockhouse Island
Canada Day weekend is fast approaching and so is the 1000 Islands Regatta from Friday to Sunday at Blockhouse Island.
Steve Armstrong, one of the event organizers and a local hydroplane racer comments on rumours of this year being the last for the Regatta.
The weekend starts off with live entertainment on Friday night from the Twin Turbos, followed by the Road Apples and Honeymoon Suite.
Next to Blockhouse is Centeen Park, where the pit crews are set up for the participating hydroplane drivers and their boats. With the pending project for a new sewage pumping station there, many are wondering how the Regatta would pivot to make the event work next year.
Armstrong says it's something the Regatta committee will definitely look into with the City.
He also adds that ticket sales have gone really well.
