LLGAMH offers numerous programs and supports for both severe and moderate addictions, providing help to local residents both in-person and online
It's National Addiction Awareness Week, and local organizations are working hard to spread awareness about addiction and the help available to those struggling with it.
Chris Curry, Program Director of Planning and Implementation at Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health (LLGAMH), says one of the biggest misconceptions about addiction is that it's a choice.
LLGAMH offers a range of groups and individual programs to help people overcome addiction, including smart recovery groups, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychotherapy, and vocational support.
The organization is also set to launch new facilities in Lanark and Leeds Grenville to support individuals with more severe addictions.
The Lanark location is set to open in early December and the Leeds Grenville location set for early Spring.
Curry emphasizes that there are healthy ways to get the dopamine rush that people often seek through addictive substances.
LLGAMH offers numerous programs and supports for both severe and moderate addictions, providing help to local residents both in-person and online.
