OPP highlights another scam to keep you safe
March is Fraud Prevention Month.
Sgt. Ed Sanchuk with the OPP says one popular scam that tricks a lot of people is called "spoofing."
This has multiple variations, with the goal is getting you to send money to someone you think you can trust.
Sanchuk said, regardless of who is asking, always have follow up questions if money is requested - especially immediately.
Another indicator is how they are asking you to pay.
In the end, if it doesn't feel right, don't engage.
