The lot once held Dailey’s Leather Goods and Sporting Goods
A six-storey building with 140 rental apartments and street-level shops could soon rise on a downtown lot that’s sat empty for 25 years.
The city’s planning and development committee will hold a public meeting tonight to discuss rezoning the site at 107-119 King Street West. The lot once held Dailey’s Leather Goods and Sporting Goods before a 2000 fire destroyed the building. Owner Tom Dailey passed away in 2009.
Plans submitted in April by consultant Christine Stinson on behalf of King Hill Properties include shops, rooftop courtyards, and 113 underground parking spaces.
City planner Andrew McGinnis says the proposal fits Brockville’s goals for housing and downtown growth. The site is currently used as a 60-space parking lot rented by the city.
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. and is open to the public. However, no decisions will be made yet.
