He was released and is scheduled to appear in court on August 8
A Mallorytown man is facing multiple charges after Ontario Provincial Police stopped a boat on Graham Lake, southeast of Athens, on Saturday afternoon.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m. on July 5, officers with the OPP East Region SAVE team were conducting a routine marine patrol when they stopped a small boat for a safety check.
Police say there were two people on board but only one life jacket. Officers also saw open alcohol in the boat and later found more. The 42-year-old operator was given a roadside test, then taken to the Kingston Police office for further testing.
He now faces six charges, including operating a boat while impaired, having open liquor on board, and possession of unmarked cigarettes. Police also say he had no proof of boating competency.
His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court on August 8.
