For 17 years, Stan Smith co-owned and ran the Brockville Bowling Centre
After an illustrious bowling career as both a competitor and executive, Stan Smith will be one of the five, new inductees into the Brockville & Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2025.
For 17 years, Stan co-owned and ran the Brockville Bowling Centre which was located behind the Town Center Plaza on Ormond Street. He says they had a good run, despite being too small scale.
The business ceased to exist back in 2018.
In conversation with our Bruce Wylie, Stan acknowledged that Brockville needs to have a bowling alley again, but it's expensive to run.
He adds that you need the capital in order to run a business like that.
With over 50 years as a competitive bowler, he boasts two PBA Senior Regional Titles, multiple provincial and international wins, and 8 perfect games. A former Roto Grip staffer and USBC Silver Level Coach, he’s managed, owned, and operated bowling centres and pro shops for decades. A true Canadian bowling legend with unmatched dedication to the sport.
Stan will officially be inducted on Friday night at the Brockville Memorial Centre.
