Ontario's Skills Development Fund
In front of the St. Lawrence River here in Brockville yesterday (Aug. 25), MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand-Islands and Rideau Lakes, Steve Clark announced that the Ontario government is investing more into what youth, jobseekers, and apprentices need in order to prepare for in-demand careers in the skilled trades in this area.
Clark says the Skills Development Fund (SDF) has been incredibly successful so far in this area, and says he hears regularly from people who have benefited from the training programs that are government funded.
MPP Clark was joined by Junior Achievement of Northern and Eastern Ontario, who is receiving an investment of $609,398 through the SDF Training Stream for their Empowerment of Youth in Skilled Trades project.
Junior Achievement is partnering with Canarm here in Brockville to offer students the chance to work in agriculture. Here's Owner and Chairman of Canarm, David Beatty on why he got involved with JA.
Clark encourages local organizations to take advantage of this program. The application period for SDF Training Stream Round 6 is now open at: ontario.ca.
Deadline to apply is October 1st.
