UWLG has launched two funds
United Way Leeds and Grenville has announced new emergency funding to help families recover from last week’s deadly Brockville fire at 95 Windsor Drive that displaced dozens of residents.
Alongside Mayor Matt Wren, United Way is urging residents, businesses and community leaders to donate toward two urgent relief programs.
The first, the Urgent Needs Fund, provides direct financial support to fire victims for essentials like emergency housing, food and clothing. The second, a newly launched Emergency Response Grant, will deliver fast-tracked funding to local nonprofits offering front-line disaster relief.
Mayor Wren says the displaced residents in the lower level units could be looking at around 2-3 months without their homes, and for the upper level units, it's much longer.
He adds that many of them remain at the Comfort Inn thanks to Victims Services of Leeds and Grenville, but that doesn't make their situation any easier.

United Way says funds will be distributed quickly and transparently, ensuring families and agencies receive the resources needed to rebuild lives and strengthen community resilience.
