Brockville City Council has voted to permanently waive facility rental fees for the Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame and the Brockville and Area Music and Performing Arts Hall of Fame.
The resolution, brought forward by Mayor Matt Wren, was approved unanimously at this week’s council meeting. The move will allow both volunteer-led organizations to host their annual awards events at the Brockville Arts Centre and Memorial Centre without rental costs.
Founded by myFM's Bruce Wylie, the two halls have celebrated and preserved the achievements of hundreds of local athletes, artists, and performers over the years.
Wren said council wanted to reduce the fundraising burden on organizers, who already dedicate significant effort to preparing and hosting the ceremonies.
City officials say the decision ensures both halls of fame can continue recognizing community excellence for generations to come.
