Dave Scott, Fire Prevention Officer with the Brockville F.D.
As students return to classrooms in Brockville, the city’s fire department is reminding both staff and students that fire safety must remain a top concern.
Dave Scott, Fire Prevention Officer with the Brockville Fire Department, said everyone should be prepared in case of an emergency.
Scott outlined some of the most common mistakes students make when faced with a fire.
He added that staff are not immune to errors, and emphasized the importance of closing doors, using proper exits, and tracking attendance.
Regular fire drills, he said, are key to building confidence.
With post-secondary students beginning classes this week, Scott noted that many are living on their own for the first time.
He stated having working CO alarms is the law.
