Brockville food bank urges community to help as prices rise

Mayor Wren praises volunteers who keep the food bank running

The Brockville and Area Food Bank is asking for community support ahead of 104.9 myFM and 103.7 Giant FM’s annual Food Bank Fill Up at the Real Canadian Superstore this Thursday (Oct. 9).

The event benefits the Rotary Harvest Sharing Food Drive.

Brockville Mayor Matt Wren said that many hard-working residents have turned to local food banks due to soaring food prices.

Wren added that the community is fortunate to have access to the food bank and to neighbors willing to help during challenging times.

He also praised the volunteers who keep the food bank running.

Donations of food and money will be accepted at the Real Canadian Superstore from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Items in high demand include peanut butter, cereal, canned meat, pasta, sauce, canned vegetables, fruit, soups, and shelf-stable juices.
