Police have arrested a 27-year-old man following an intimate partner violence incident in the early hours of October 18. Officers were called to the area of Church Street and Buell Street at about 1:00 a.m. after the man reported a physical altercation with another male.
Investigation revealed the man had been involved in a dispute with his girlfriend at his residence, which escalated when he struck her in the face. Another male present at the home intervened to protect the woman, resulting in a physical altercation. The accused was removed from the residence and locked out before contacting police.
The 27-year-old was arrested and charged with assault. Authorities confirmed any injuries sustained were minor and non-life-threatening. No additional charges were laid, and the man remained in custody pending a bail hearing. Police continue to remind the public to report incidents of domestic violence promptly.
