Leeds Grenville Paramedic Service is calling on residents to roll up their sleeves and donate blood this month.
Paramedics will host a community blood drive at the Memorial Centre in Brockville on October 27 to support Canadian Blood Services and help trauma patients across Ontario.
There are 11 trauma centres in the province, including Ottawa Civic Hospital and Kingston General Hospital, where LGPS paramedics often transport critical patients.
Blood products are essential in saving lives during trauma care.
Local paramedic Chris Davidson said the idea came after a great experience at last year’s #GivingForBrian blood drive in memory of Brian Fraser.
He explained that this event was scheduled separately to avoid overlapping with that annual drive.
Davidson said community participation is key — the more donors, the greater the impact.
Appointments can be booked at Canadian Blood Services
Every donation helps ensure blood is available when it’s needed most, in emergencies, surgeries, and trauma cases across Ontario.
