Brockville police clear up confusion over provincewide inspection

Brockville Police say they welcome the review of policies, procedures and practices

The Brockville Police Service is clarifying details about a provincewide inspection announced by Ontario’s Inspector General of Policing following recent charges against members of the Toronto Police Service.

Police say some social media posts have misinterpreted the announcement. Officials stress the inspection is a sector-wide review of all police services in Ontario and is not an investigation targeting a select few.

The Inspectorate of Policing was created under the Ontario Community Safety and Policing Act. Its mandate includes oversight of police services across the province and guidance on compliance with regulations and ethical standards.

Brockville Police say they welcome the review of policies, procedures and practices. The goal, they say, is to identify where safeguards can be strengthened and to maintain public trust.

The service says ensuring confidence in local policing remains a top priority as officers continue to serve the Brockville community professionally and ethically.
