Serious but non-life-threatening injuries
A child was seriously hurt after being struck by a pickup truck in Brockville on May 26, around 5 p.m.
Police say the youth ran into the road near Central Avenue and Ormond Street and collided with a truck that was driving legally. Emergency crews quickly arrived at the scene. The street was closed off to keep the area safe while paramedics treated the child.
The child was taken to Brockville General Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
After investigating, police said the driver of the truck was not at fault and no charges were laid.
Officials described the incident as an unfortunate accident and are reminding the public to stay alert near roadways.
The scene was cleared later that evening. Police and paramedics thanked bystanders for staying clear of the area while emergency crews worked.
