Brockville Police say they were called around 12:30 p.m. to 1481 Windsor Dr. yesterday
A construction worker suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon after part of a concrete staircase collapsed at a job site on Windsor Drive.
Brockville Police say they were called around 12:30 p.m. to 1481 Windsor Dr., where a portion of a stairwell inside a multi-level building under construction had given way, trapping the worker beneath heavy debris.
Emergency crews from Brockville Fire, Leeds & Grenville Paramedics, Brockville General Hospital, Ottawa Fire Service and an Ornge Air Ambulance all responded.
Inspector Darryl Boyd noted safety concerns about the building’s stability during rescue efforts.
After several tense hours, the worker was freed and flown to Kingston General Hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries.
An investigation with the Ministry of Labour is underway.
