Trails Fest is back this month
The Frontenac Arch Biosphere Network (FAB) is bringing back its annual Trails Fest this September, offering a series of free guided hikes across the region. This year’s festival emphasizes fall scenery and the unique natural and cultural history of the area.
On Saturday, September 13, hikers in Gananoque can explore the McLean Memorial Forest on a 10 a.m. guided hike, led by community partners sharing stories about the forest’s ecology and human history.
Another hike at 2 p.m. takes participants through Thousand Islands National Park in Lansdowne. Earlier hikes on Friday, September 12, take place at Cataraqui Conservation in Brockville, Wintergreen Studios in South Frontenac, and Frontenac Provincial Park.
The Trails Fest is more than just a chance to enjoy fresh air; it’s an opportunity to learn why this UNESCO World Biosphere is so ecologically and culturally significant.
Those unable to attend can still explore the region through FAB’s trails and waterways resources online.
