A 37-year-old man is facing an assault charge after a series of late-night disturbances that began at Brockville General Hospital and ended with an attack on a nurse.
Police say that around 9 p.m. on October 18, officers were called after the man caused trouble at the hospital and then attempted to enter the Brockville Fire Department on Perth Street. Fire department staff quickly secured the building and contacted police.
When officers arrived, they located and arrested the man for mischief and causing a disturbance. While in custody, the man suffered a medical event and was taken back to the hospital for treatment.
According to police, the suspect became agitated and shoved a nurse in front of officers. The victim was not seriously injured.
The man was assessed by medical staff, charged with assault, and released from custody with a future court date. No charges were laid regarding the fire department incident.
