A 20-day appeal period begins tomorrow
A new six-storey commercial and residential building is moving forward in downtown Brockville after a long approval process and pushback from nearby residents.
The project will be built at the old Dailey’s lot at King Street West and Home Street, which has been used as a parking lot since a fire destroyed the previous building in 2000.
The development will include 128 residential units and ground-floor commercial space, along with interior and rooftop courtyards and 113 underground parking spots. The entrance will be on Apple Street, with the exit on Home Street.
Apple Street residents had raised concerns about potential foundation damage and the size of the project. In response, the number of units was reduced from 140 to 128.
Brockville council unanimously approved the project Tuesday, along with a bylaw allowing a 1.8-metre side yard.
A 20-day appeal period begins tomorrow (Friday, July 25). If no appeals are made, construction could start next spring.
