Police believe the fire was set on purpose
Police are investigating a suspicious fire that broke out early Sunday morning at a home north of Brockville.
Leeds County OPP said they received reports of a structure fire shortly after 5:00 a.m. The fire happened at a single-family house, which was unoccupied at the time. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters from Elizabethtown-Kitley Township responded quickly and were able to put out the blaze before it spread further.
Police believe the fire was set on purpose and are treating the case as arson. The Leeds County OPP Crime Unit is working with the OPP’s Forensic Identification Services to investigate.
