Edwardsburgh/Cardinal celebrates major milestone with Canada’s largest battery project

Officials say it will create hundreds of construction and operational jobs and support the province’s growing economy

As 2025 comes to a close, residents of Edwardsburgh/Cardinal are being encouraged to reflect on the year’s successes. 

Mayor Tory Deschamps highlighted a major development in the community this year.

 

The project will store electricity from Ontario’s clean grid and provide enough power for nearly 400,000 homes. 

Officials say it will create hundreds of construction and operational jobs and support the province’s growing economy. 

Mayor Deschamps also discussed the local economy.

He reflected on the council's work over the past year.

The mayor encouraged residents to carry forward the year’s momentum, highlighting growth, collaboration, and the community’s role in Ontario’s clean energy future.
