After nearly a month, the ban is over
The City of Brockville has lifted its fire ban, allowing campfires once again at St. Lawrence Park and all city-owned islands effective immediately.
The ban had been in place since July 30, when hot and dry conditions raised fire risks across the region.
At that time, all open-air fires were prohibited, including those in metal rings at campsites.
City officials say they appreciate the community’s cooperation during the ban, which was put in place to protect residents, visitors, and the natural environment.
With the lifting of restrictions, residents and campers can now enjoy open-air fires in designated areas.
The Brockville Fire Department continues to remind people to follow safety rules and never leave campfires unattended.
