A Brockville man reeled in a fish worth bragging about while fishing off Sand docks Park
A Brockville man had the catch of a lifetime last weekend while fishing off Sand docks Park.
Local angler Lucas Haystead was enjoying a quiet Saturday afternoon when he unexpectedly hooked a 35-pound muskellunge — also known as a muskie — in the St. Lawrence River.
The impressive fish is considered rare in local waters and has since drawn attention from the area’s fishing community. Many are calling it the "fish of a lifetime."
Muskies are known for being large, powerful fish that are difficult to catch, making Haystead’s successful catch a notable achievement. It’s believed to be one of the bigger muskies landed near Sanddocks Park in recent years.
The catch has also helped shine a light on Brockville as a top fishing spot in Eastern Ontario, especially for those hoping to hook a trophy fish.
Haystead released the muskie back into the river after taking a few quick photos.
