An official announcement from Lanark, Leeds Grenville Addictions & Mental Health is pending
A few weeks back, we told you about the sale of 280 King Street East, the former home of Fulford Academy that could soon become the new Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment Centre (HART Hub).
While acknowledging that there's a desperate need for more housing and shelter for the most vulnerable in our community, an anonymous letter went into concerns about the east end area becoming congested with a third facility in addition to the Cooperative Care Centre just a few blocks over on the Brockville Psychiatric Hospital property on Oxford Avenue, plus the tiny buildings down by St. Lawrence Lodge.
The sender wonders if the facilities could be spread out a bit better, and requested a public consultation before a decision is made.
MPP Clark sent the following statement to MBC:
“Questions on the location and operations of the HART Hub should be directed to the operator, Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health. The HART Hub will be funded by Province of Ontario. The provincial government does not have a role in site selection. I am excited to bring this service to Brockville to provide treatment to the most vulnerable in our community. I have every confidence in the exceptional administrative and clinical staff at LLGAMH to operate this facility professionally and responsibly as they have at multiple locations within the City of Brockville.”
Once the exact location is finalized, there will be an official announcement from LLGAMH.
