High school feud spills into Tim Hortons parking lot, charges laid

A schoolyard feud led to charges after a group of teens got into a heated altercation near Tim Hortons on William Street.

Police were called around 11:30 a.m. on April 14 after a group of students from the same school got into an argument that turned physical. Officers say two 17-year-old girls were mainly responsible for escalating the fight.

According to police, one of the girls had been harassing the group and made threats toward another teen. A friend of the targeted girl stepped in and responded physically.

No serious injuries were reported, but police say the first 17-year-old was charged with uttering threats and given a future court date. The second girl was dealt with through an extrajudicial measure and diverted from court.

Police say they continue to take school-related violence seriously and encourage students to report threats or bullying.
