Homeless Brockville camp residents face uncertain future as police prepare to clear sites

Around 20 people are affected

Police and local agencies are preparing to clear two homeless encampments in Brockville, affecting about 20 people, including Robin McMillan. McMillan, 48, has lived near the Salvation Army church for six weeks. He says the hardest part is not knowing where to go next.

“Getting ready to go is one thing, but having somewhere to go to is something different,” he said. Police say they have given residents weeks’ notice and are offering support, but resources are limited. Other residents, like Daniel Bauder and Michael Richards, also face uncertainty and worry about finding housing.

Richards, a wheelchair user, said waiting times for accessible units could be years. Police continue outreach to help residents move on safely but acknowledge the challenges ahead for those affected by the closures.
