500 snowsuits were handed out over the weekend

Brockville’s annual Snowsuit Drive is seeing one of its busiest years yet, with organizer Rob Smith of the Kinsmen Club reporting a surge in families needing warm winter gear.

Volunteers handed out 500 snowsuits and pieces of winter apparel at the Procter & Gamble Pavilion on Saturday morning—more than double the usual first-day number.

Smith says donations are urgently needed too.

Mitts, hats, scarves and boots are also in short supply.

Drop boxes are set up across the Brockville area, including at fire stations, Canadian Tire, Giant Tiger, Metro, Walmart, the YMCA and several local businesses.

The next distribution days run November 22 and 29, from 9 a.m. to noon at 185 George Street. Monetary donations are also accepted by cheque to the Brockville Kinsmen Snowsuit Drive or by e-transfer to BrockvilleKinsmen@gmail.com.
