U.S. President Trump's 50% tariffs came into effect on Wednesday
Local MP Michael Barrett says the increased tariffs on Canadian aluminum are more reason to keep manufacturing on Canadian soil.
And the MP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes says it's more than just manufacturing that needs to be kept at home.
Barret says we have great manufacturing here in Canada, powered by Canadians.
Barret says the Opposition will support the government however they can.
He adds that the tariffs do mean that the country has to take another look at domestic manufacturing practices.
