Long Term Care Minister blown away by new home in Athens

Following her visit yesterday

Ontario's Long Term Care Minister Natalia Kusendova-Bashta was recently in Athens to see the new G. Tackaberry and Family Home.

The facility is ready to open, and her first impressions were strong.

Kusendova-Bashta also stressed the importance of early staff recruitment.

The project, valued at more than $86 million is the largest capital construction investment in the history of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.

The three-story, six-wing facility will provide 192 rooms and replace the current 60-bed Maple View Lodge. Current residents are expected to move in this fall, with 132 new residents to follow.

The fundraising campaign for the new G. Tackaberry & Family Home in Athens is nearing the finish line, with $2.6 million already raised toward a $3 million goal. The committee is aiming to secure the final $400,000 by October 1.
