After more than two weeks on the loose in Brockville, a cat named Leroy has finally been found safe and reunited with his owner, Trevor.

Leroy escaped from his carrier on Oct. 9 while his owner was loading a van after a visit to the Lanark Leeds Grenville Spay and Neuter Clinic. Being from out of town, Trevor relied on local volunteers to help search for the missing pet.

Community members, including Beth Gee, Laurie Willoughby, Mystie Eve, Megan Lawson, Annette Tordiff and Linda Howie from Barrhaven Animal Resources, worked together to set traps, review camera footage and spread the word in the area.

Their persistence paid off when Leroy was successfully trapped after more than two and a half weeks on the run. He is now safely back home in Renfrew, where his family says they are deeply thankful for everyone who helped bring him home.
