On July 31st
Five people are facing drug trafficking charges after a major police operation across several communities along the St. Lawrence River.
On July 31, Ontario Provincial Police executed search warrants at properties in Prescott, Augusta Township, Brockville and Long Sault.
The action followed a spring investigation into cocaine trafficking in eastern Ontario.
Police seized over 240 grams of suspected cocaine, more than a dozen hydromorphone pills, ecstasy, and drug trafficking materials.
Roughly $30,000 in cash was also recovered.
In addition, officers recovered a stolen 2022 dirt bike and seized two more vehicles, a bulletproof vest, a rifle, ammunition and brass knuckles.
Eleven people were arrested, but only five were charged.
Two have been released with court dates, while the others await bail hearings.
Multiple police units were involved, including the OPP’s Tactics and Rescue Unit, Canine Unit and Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, as well as Brockville and Gananoque police.
