A key piece of Brockville’s water system is getting a major upgrade, with work underway to reline an aging water main that crosses Highway 401.
The project, handled by Canadian infrastructure company FER-PAL Construction, involves a structural reline of a 250-millimetre ductile water main between First Avenue and Broome Road.
The pipe, originally installed in the 1950s, is being reinforced with modern technology to extend its lifespan and ensure reliable service for residents.
The reline covers roughly 100 metres of underground pipe and is expected to be substantially completed by September 12.
The work forms part of the city’s broader infrastructure improvements, aimed at addressing aging systems before they fail.
Officials say these upgrades are essential for both safety and sustainability, helping reduce the risk of leaks, breaks, and costly emergency repairs.
