Massive $90B spending plan unveiled: Barrett questions Liberal budget priorities amid record deficit

The federal government unveiled a massive new spending plan Tuesday, with nearly $90 billion in new investments over the next five years aimed at boosting the economy and strengthening national security.

The 2025 federal budget includes major funding for defence and a one-percentage-point income tax cut coming in July. 

It also projects a $78.3 billion deficit this fiscal year — more than double last year’s estimate.

Leeds–Grenville–Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MP Michael Barrett raised concerns about Liberal regulations and how they could impact Canadians.
