New signs and safety push to get North Grenville kids walking to school

The Active School Travel project

Grenville County OPP is teaming up with the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Health Unit and local school boards to launch the “Active School Travel” project in North Grenville. The project starts with the next school year.

New signs will be put up along school routes to encourage students to walk to school safely. These signs will remind drivers to watch for children and promote road safety.

Before the project begins, OPP officers have been working closely with partners to educate the community and increase enforcement near schools. The goal is to make walking to school safer and to help kids be more active.

This effort supports safe communities by teaching youth about safety and healthy travel. The project shows a strong commitment to improving well-being in North Grenville.

Officials say this partnership will help create safer, healthier ways for students to get to school every day.
